[NEWS] The Sunday Spew (8th December 2013)

Today’s edition of The Sunday Spew is brought to you from my bed, where I have remained for the best part of the day in an effort to recover from the weekend’s misconduct and the many plank-walkings that Captain Morgan made me do last night.

Too much, actually.

Too much, actually.

Despite not being able to discern if I’m too hot or too cold, or if this loss of vision is permanent or temporary, I have news to report so we must battle onward in the name of This Week In Geek.

A MOVIE OF A GAME THAT’S LIKE A MOVIE – Sony reportedly registered multiple domain names for The Last Of Us movie. While that doesn’t necessarily mean a film is a foregone conclusion, it is something that is obviously being discussed. Do you think The Last Of Us movie needs to be made?

Everyone is making googly eyes at Spidey. The trailer was released this week prompting all sorts of discussions and observations. For some hawk-eyed screenies and an excellent breakdown of the SEXY LITTLE SPIDER-MAN SNIPPET, see Tim’s Film Reviews.

FURIOUS WOMAN – We’re getting a Wonder Woman for Bats Vs Supe apparently, in the shape of Gal Gadot. The Miss Israel beauty is known for her recent role in Fast & Furious 6. The news was surprising to say the least, and one would think that controversial geek debate would break out but the common consensus seems to be that she can’t act.

In more MARVLIX news we hear that Drew Goddard has been drafted in to direct and write the Daredevil pilot.

THE IRON IS HOT – Before X-Men: Days of Future Past is even released, we get some spoilerific news from Bryan Singer himself, who prematurely ejaculated all over Twitter and revealed that X-Men: Apocalypse will follow in 2016.

And finally, THE WALKING DEAD SEASON 2 gets an official release date of 17th December. I’ll be there with bells on to greet returning Clementine and Omidget, my favourite gnome.

In Spew news this week I managed a post again, celebrated a few gongs and spread some award STDs among special friends and talented writers. Admire the link diarrhea here.

Again there were plenty of posts to keep me entertained these last few days while I pretended to work. MissRhiosace from Adventures of a Girl Gamer produced yet another brilliant GTA V post, where she detailed all of her favourite things to do online. The fabulous Jordan and Eddie take on one of my favourite comedies, Black Dynamite. Craig from 1001-Up.com gives us an idea of what could happen When Slender Man Retires (hint: still a better love story than Twilight).

The ape-strengthed Brian from Hard Ticket to Home Video returns with more deeply philosophical tweets from everyone’s favourite child star, Jaden Smith. Joseph from The Cinema Monster is hosting a Best of 2013 Vote so get over there and have your say, post haste, and this week I was introduced to the Five for the Fifth feature from Ruth and her most awesome blog, Flixchatter. My boy Dylan from treatmentofvisions also posted an awards acceptance speech, wherein he never forgets to thank The Cumberbatch and posits that I may be an invading lizard-alien. If you haven’t checked out his blog yet then you simply must, it’s extremely entertaining.

As I lay here, pondering last night’s Dr. Phil Night with the BFF (Dr. Phil Nights consist of consuming a lot of wine with Bestie and solving each other’s problems. Eventually with enough juice consumed we solve the ENTIRE WORLD’S problems and the therapy session usually ends in drunken dancing to celebrate), I feel a distinct lack of The FEAR, which normally accompanies such nights. Why is this, I don’t hear you wonder. Well, it could be because tomorrow heralds the beginning of my last week of work before the Christmas break. I managed to wrangle an early finish so I can sit around on my hole doing nothing but playing games and catching up on my mammoth Must Watch List. I may also venture outside once or twice to see loved ones. Maybe.

Have you anything to add? Tell me your news below!

With that joyous news out of the way, I will leave you on this beautiful parting note, courtesy of Kevin from The Mental Attic.

  5. I think you’re just a tad mad but that helps… of that I am sure!! Captain Morgan… mmmmmm… Rum and Raspberry… now there’s a cure!!
Get well soon and do enjoy your day in bright light tomorrow… seems HR (??) or the use of indirect positive persuasion has won the day!! ;-)
Sweet rum fumed dreams… or should that be sweet rum fueled dreams? :-P

    • A bit of both AJ! And it’ll be rum fumes alright as I sweat all of the weekend’s excess out of me with the Sunday night terrors. Cue the “I’m never drinking again!” and Detox Monday promises!

  7. Oh and a Last of Us film would be pointless, it’s perfect as it is and everyone should play it

  8. On whether you’re hot or cold, it depends entirely on what you’re talking about ;)

Just 7 more days!! Then you won’t have an excuse not to play with us :)

We need to coordinate those TWD narratives :)

Another week, another great Sunday spew, now off to bed with you…I’ll be sending you something over the mail in 2-3 hours hahahaha

  9. Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman is the only decision for Superman 2 that I have agreed with. And I’m sorry, your pugs are not getting any less creepier.

    • One of these Sundays Luke I’ll change your mind about the pugs, it’s my new mission. Tell me too why you think Gadot is a good choice for Wonder Woman?

      Like

      • Well, there is nothing wrong with the choice haha. She is a good enough actress (bearing in mind, we only really know her from Fast and Furious which barely encourages good acting). Wonder Woman works better with a foreign twist on the character in my books and it is definitely not as controversial as Ben Affleck. So yeah… I’m not overly bothered about this slice of news.

  10. Nice review of my site, V! I’m hereby awarding you with the treatmentofvisions 1st Millennial Cool-Enough-to-Give-Me-an-Award Award. I might have just made that up but according to Internet rules it’s still a real award. Thanks again!

    • Sons of Anarchy (all of it), Boardwalk Empire (all of the current season), The Blacklist, try Dr. Who, catch up on Agents of SHIELD and Dracula. Half a dozen October DVD releases and nearly all of the November releases. If you have suggestions lay them on me!

      • I just started SOA last week. I just watched the first episode of The Black 2 days ago. Both are good so far. If you’ve got anything on your Netflix queue that you need to know if it’s worth it, let me know.

  12. I checked out the documentary How Videogames Changed the World last week. I was broadcast on Channel 4, but some people have put it up on Youtube. Quite enjoyed watching even though I thought their number 1 (they did a countdown) was a bit stupid.

  13. Regarding The Last of Us, I actually thought it would make a good TV series rather than a film. But then I guess it’d be a bit too much like The Walking Dead. I absolutely love the game so I’d be happy if they just left it as is.

    Like

    • I think it would make an interesting series actually, agreed. It’s an amazing game, I’m not at all sold on the movie idea, the story length far exceeds that of an average runtime, even without added time for gameplay.
